Preliminary Release for 26.1

Classic Faithful 32x



For you all today is an update for Classic Faithful 32x, giving both Jappa and Programmer Art versions support for 26.1. This update is a preliminary release, which means it continues work on 26.1 features which are not yet fully completed as of the time of release. Further releases on Curseforge and Modrinth will be made as progress continues from week to week, as you have all come to expect by now. Full completion of the pack has no ETA; whenever it is completed, it will be explicitly announced.

Due to the large volume of entity textures that this game drop has presented, there have been numerous challenges with making any significant progress on the Bedrock versions of the packs and balance workloads with the Java versions. This primarily presents itself as time constraints, as the entity textures added in this version of the game are relatively large and complex compared to typical block or item textures. As long as Java has residual progress to make, it will take priority; once it is done, work will be resumed on the Bedrock front.

We have ultimately decided that we will not be including NPC textures in the Classic Faithful 32x packs. This allows us to save substantial amounts of time; mixed entity resolutions (aside from typical in-game mobs) are considered relatively normal in Bedrock than they are in Java due to how player skins and their respective marketplace offerings function, so we decided that because of this we can go without them with minimal consequences or setbacks. Support for Vibrant Visuals is still planned, though the Bedrock pack must be fully completed (all UI textures must be done). The Jappa pack will have the most immediate support, since the Default textures have the best support for Vibrant Visuals. However, the same cannot be said for the Programmer Art versions of the pack; we will need to decide how we will go about doing the lighting maps for both of the versions, as Programmer Art does not appear to have any. This is a potential logistical challenge, but rest assured the only current major setback is time.

Java progress will continue as per usual. Support for version accuracy is still proposed and planned, though the bulk of this will be done once Bedrock is completed.
